JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said that at least nine priority industrial subsectors were included in the Government's Roadmap for the Decarbonization Program.

The decarbonization roadmap is believed to be an initial step that will guide the formation of a green industry in Indonesia.

"We already have a roadmap for nine industrial sectors with subsectors, namely, cement; fertilizer; metals; pulp & paper; textiles; chemicals; ceramics & glass; food & beverages; and transportation," said the Head of the Industrial Center for Industrial Green De-carbonization Team, Sri Gadis Pari Bekti, in a Media Gathering for the Green Industry De-carbonization Initiative in Jakarta, Thursday, December 18.

The determination of the priority sectors was carried out by considering the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced are higher compared to other industries.

"This is also done because there is an increase in production until 2050, it seems to be rising. Well, how should we decarbonize these nine subsectors," he said.

With the preparation of the roadmap for the nine sectors above, it is hoped that it will support the target of Net Zero Emissions (NZE) in 2050.

"Well, the conclusion from this roadmap is that in the projection it will reduce several million tons, yes in the roadmap,

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the commitment of the Republic of Indonesia to realize net zero emissions or net zero emissions (NZE) by 2060.

In fact, Prabowo believes that the NZE target can be achieved faster.

This was conveyed by Prabowo in his speech at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States (US), Tuesday, September 23, local time.

"Indonesia is decisively shifting from fossil fuel-based development to renewable energy-based development," said Prabowo. Starting next year, the majority of additional national power plant capacity will come from renewable energy.

The big goal, said Prabowo, is to lift all people out of poverty and place Indonesia as a center of solutions for food, energy and water security in the world.
