Pelni Projects Will Serve 555,962 On The Nataru Holiday

PT Pelasero Nasional Indonesia (Persero) or Pelni projects that it will serve 555,962 passengers during the Christmas 2025 and 2026 New Year (Nataru) sea transportation periods.

The Nataru transportation period set by the Ministry of Transportation will take place from December 11, 2025 to January 8, 2026.

President Director of Pelni Tri Andayani revealed that the projection was around 0.81 percent higher than the Nataru period last year.

Furthermore, Tri Andayani said the peak of the homecoming flow is estimated to occur on D-5 or 20 December 2025 with a projected passenger of 26,855 people, and backflow on January 5, 2026 with a total of 24,718 passengers.

"If we look here, the increase (the number of passengers) continues to increase from 2022, to date. If (passengers) of pioneer ships have decreased, it is caused by the number of ships assigned to us to go down. So it's not because the passengers have dropped, but the number of ships that have disembarked," he said at a press conference, in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 10.

You, as he is familiarly called, said that during the Nataru period, namely December 11, 2025 to January 8, 2026, Pelni prepared 56,069 seats in all ships. This number also includes capacity dispensation.

The details, consisting of 25 passenger ships with 44,180 seats in 74 ports and 30 pioneer ships with a capacity of 11,889 seats in 230 ports.

"And the tickets that we have prepared for the community during the Nataru period are 639,635 tickets. Where 16 percent is bigger or more than the realization of tickets sold at Christmas 2024-2025, which is 551,485," you said.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi revealed that 119.5 million people were predicted to travel, both outside and within the province, during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) holidays.

Dudy said, the prediction was based on a survey conducted by the Transportation Policy Agency of the Ministry of Transportation in collaboration with BPS, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, and Academics.

"According to a survey of 42.01 percent of Indonesia's population or around 119.5 million people have the potential to travel, during the Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 holiday," Dudy said at a media briefing in Jakarta, Friday, December 5.

Based on the results of a survey conducted by the Transportation Policy Agency, on December 20, 2025, it is predicted that there will be 11.83 million people. Then, the movement sloped and rose again on D-1 Christmas or December 24, 2025, with an estimated movement of 17.18 million people.
