The Ministry Of Public Works Accelerates The Recovery Of Flood-Affected Roads And Landslides In Aceh For Logistics Supply

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has accelerated the recovery of national road connectivity in Aceh Province after the disaster of flash floods and landslides.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said his party had deployed and diverted heavy equipment from a number of infrastructure projects to accelerate the opening of road access in Aceh to maintain logistics distribution and prevent social risks.

"After the floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra, reopening transportation routes is a top priority before the government talks further about the rehabilitation and reconstruction stages of infrastructure," said Dody in a written statement, Thursday, December 4.

Based on a report from the Aceh National Road Implementation Center (BPJN) of the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works until December 3, 2025, a number of strategic sections that were previously cut off due to floods and landslides have now been reconnected and are functional.

The national roads that have been successfully restored and can be passed include the Banda Aceh Meureudu section which is now re-connected. The Lhokseumawe City Boundary Section of Langsa City has also been passed, with the cleaning of sediment that continues to be carried out in the field.

Then, the Langsa City Section of Kuala Simpang City has been handled from flood material deposits.

The Kuala Simpang City Section (Batas) of North Sumatra Province as of December 3, 2025, can be passed by all types of vehicles.

"Currently, cleaning is still being continued with heavy equipment support in the form of four backhoe excavators, two wheel loaders and two grader motorbikes," he said.

Furthermore, the Kutacane City Section (Batas) of North Sumatra Province has now also been passed again. The Central Aceh/Nagan Raya Crossing Gate Genting Section which is located in the highlands has now been connected to two-wheeled vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Uwaq Blangkejeren Intersection section has also been open to two-wheeled vehicles and is being prepared so that four-wheeled vehicles can be passed immediately.

The restoration of access and handling of the impact of disasters was also carried out by the Sumatra I River Basin Center (BWS) in Aceh Tamiang Regency.

Currently, Aceh Tamiang access has also penetrated again to support the smooth distribution of logistical assistance and mobility of residents to basic service centers.

BWS Sumatra I has deployed two units of heavy equipment, consisting of one excavator unit and one wheel loader, which is focused on cleaning up mud as well as garbage on roads and drainage channels.

In addition to equipment support, BWS Sumatra I has also distributed basic food assistance to affected communities.

In addition to a number of sections that have been passed, the Ministry of Public Works also continues to handle a number of sections that previously broke, among others, the Meureudu Section of Pidie Jaya/Bireuen, Bireuen Bener Meriah, Bireuen'Aceh Tengah, Gayo Lues' Kutacane, Central Aceh'Nagan Raya and Geumpang'Pameue Intersection Uning.

Dody menjelaskan, penanganan dilakukan melalui pemasangan jembatan bailey, penimbunan oprit, pengalihan arus sungai serta pembukaan jalur darurat.

Saat ini, kata dia, pekerjaan konstruksi masih dalam tahap akhir dengan target penyelesaian bertahap pada rentang waktu 8 hingga 17 Desember 2025.

"Diharapkan pulihnya akses secara bertahap ini dapat mempermudah distribusi logistik dan bantuan serta menghidupkan kembali mobilitas masyarakat dan aktivitas perekonomian di wilayah terdampak," imbuhnya.

Dody explained that the handling was carried out through the installation of a bailey bridge, stockpiling of oprit, diverting river flow and opening of emergency lanes.

Currently, he said, construction work is still in the final stages with a gradual completion target in the period 8 to 17 December 2025.

"It is hoped that the gradual recovery of access can facilitate logistics and aid distribution and revive community mobility and economic activity in affected areas," he added.
