JAKARTA - PLN Jakarta Raya's Main Distribution Unit (UID) continues to innovate in supporting the Net Zero Emission (NZE) 2060 program through the management of biomass waste into clean energy. A total of 8.3 tons of biomass waste in the form of leaves and branches from the banks of the Ciliwung River and PLN units in the Greater Jakarta area have been processed into solid Jumputan Fuel (BBJP) using Waste Processing Technology in its Source (TOSS).

This BBJP is used as a substitute for some coal for Steam Power Plants (PLTU) through co-firing processes. The delivery of BBJP to PLTU Lontar has been carried out three times, namely in 2023, 2024, and 2025. In 2025, PLN UID Jakarta Raya managed to send 2 tons of BBJP to PLTU Lontar. This effort not only reduces biomass waste that has the potential to pollute the environment, but also contributes to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 3,154 tons of CO2eq.

This step is part of the transformation of PLN 2.0 in the NZE pillar, as well as supports the government's strategic program related to waste management and renewable energy. This program also strengthens the synergy between PLN Subholding and the community, supports the company's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and increases the company's image as a pioneer in clean energy.

On this occasion, General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Moch. Andy Adhaminordin, conveyed the company's commitment to sustainability:

The management of biomass waste into BBJP is not only an energy solution, but also a real step to protect the environment. We want to ensure that every innovation we make provides direct benefits to the community and supports the Net Zero Emission target," said Andy Adcha.

Andy Adcha also emphasized the importance of collaboration in realizing this program:

"The success of sending BBJP to PLTU Lontar is proof that the synergy between PLN and the community can create a positive impact. We will continue to develop this program so that more biomass waste is processed into clean energy," he added.

Through this program, PLN UID Jakarta Raya hopes to provide alternative biomass waste management that is environmentally friendly, reduce the burden of Final Disposal Sites (TPA), and support the reduction of GRK emissions from the waste sector. This effort is part of the journey to NZE 2060, as well as a tangible manifestation of PLN's commitment to supporting energy sustainability in Indonesia.
