Minister Nusron: Place Of Worship Is A House Of God, Certificates Must Be Managed

JAKARTA - The government continues to strive so that all places of worship in Indonesia can have certificates. Given, land has a very fundamental value for people's lives.

For this reason, the state is obliged to ensure that places of worship as spiritual and social spaces for the people have strong legal certainty and protection.

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid has also submitted 10 certificates for houses of worship, both churches and mosques in Papua. The handover took place at the GKI Kasih Dok IX Jayapura Church, Papua Province, Wednesday, November 19.

Nusron emphasized that during President Prabowo's leadership, all places of worship, including mosques, churches, monasteries and so on will be certified by the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

"Therefore, Mr. Pastor, we ask for help hand in hand within one year, a maximum of two years, yes, Mr. Roy (Head of the Regional Office of BPN Papua Province). All places of worship in Papua must have been certified. There should be no exceptions," said Nusron in his official statement, quoted Thursday, November 20.

According to Nusron, places of worship are a house of God. Thus, the certificate must be taken care of in order to avoid the seizure of the land mafia.

"The place of worship is the house of God, the certificate is taken care of so that it is safe from taking the mafia and taking other people. The time of the house itself is taken care of, the house of God is not taken care of," he said.

He also appreciated the support of religious leaders and local governments who continue to maintain harmony in Papua.

"We hope that the acceleration of certification of places of worship can provide a sense of security to the people and strengthen the quality of land services in the area," he added.
