JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk (WSKT) received a People's School (SR) project in South Sulawesi (Sulsel) worth IDR 1.23 trillion.

Director of Operations I Waskita Karya Ari Asmoko said the project would be built in five districts of South Sulawesi, including Wajo, Sidrap, Tana Toraja, Soppeng and Barru.

The target is that all school buildings can be completed by mid-2026.

"This program is also one of the ways for the government to prepare human resources to encourage the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045," he said in his official statement, Tuesday, November 18.

Ari said, the existence of the People's School is also an effort to break the chain of poverty while at the same time improving the welfare of the community.

Through this program, the government will provide comprehensive support for students and their families, including health, social and economic empowerment assistance.

"We believe that the sooner the completion of the building is carried out, the sooner it will be used by the community," he said.

Later, WSKT will work on school buildings from Elementary School (SD) to High School (SMA). Then, student dormitories, teacher dormitories, canteens, sports facilities, worship facilities and multipurpose buildings.

"We hope that all Indonesian children can get adequate educational facilities," he added.

For information, the Ministry of Public Works (PU) officially started the construction of SR in three provinces, namely Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.

This was stated in the signing of the contract which was carried out at the office of the Ministry of Public Works, Jakarta, Monday, November 17, and witnessed by the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasized the importance of sustainability and quality in the implementation of the People's School infrastructure development in order to support the fulfillment of access to decent and equitable education throughout Indonesia.

"The construction of this People's School is not only a physical development, but also an effort by the government to ensure that every child in Indonesia has the same opportunity to get quality education," said Dody in his official statement, Tuesday, November 18.

There are four People's School development packages signed. The first package, namely the construction of SR in Central Kalimantan, includes four locations in Katingan Regency, Gunung Mas Regency, East Kotawaringin Regency and Palangka Raya City. The SR work package has a contract value of IDR 985.9 billion.

The second package is the construction of SR in South Kalimantan which includes three locations in Barito Kuala Regency, Tanah Bumbu Regency and Banjarbaru City. The contract value is IDR 700 billion.

The third package, namely the construction of SR in South Sulawesi Province, is divided into two packages. The first includes five locations in Sidrap Regency, Soppeng Regency, Wajo Regency, Barru Regency and Tanah Toraja Regency with a contract value of IDR 1.23 trillion.

Meanwhile, the construction package in South Sulawesi includes four locations in Bone Regency, Makassar City, Takalar Regency and Sinjai Regency, with a contract value of IDR 974 billion.
