Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the national cosmetic industry continues to grow rapidly and is one of the important sub-sectors that reflects the creativity and innovation of the nation's children.
This was conveyed by Agus at the One Year Featured Program of the Prabowo-Gibran and Cosmetic Day 2025 Government in Jakarta, Wednesday night, November 5.
"In the last 10 years, the cosmetic industry has shown very important roles and contributions. This sector is a reflection of the creativity and innovation of the nation's children," said Agus.
Agus explained, the market value of the Indonesian cosmetics industry in 2024 reached 9.2 billion US dollars with a total of around 1,500 active business actors until October 2025. Of these, 87 percent of them are small and medium industries (IKM).
"The dominance of IKM shows that the cosmetic industry is very inclusive and potential for many business actors, especially local entrepreneurs," he said.
He added that the global trend towards halal, safe and sustainable products is a great opportunity for Indonesia to appear as the center of the world halal cosmetics industry. The government also supports this step through a mandatory halal certification policy that will take effect next year.

As a form of concrete support, the Directorate General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) organizes Cosmetic Day 2025. "Through the 2025 Cosmetic Day, we want to accelerate the performance of the national cosmetic industry so that it is more superior, safe, halal and globally competitive," he concluded.
