JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate the National Electric Motor (Molinas) ecosystem at the production facility of PT Ilectra Motor Group (Alva), Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, Thursday, August 13.
The inauguration is part of the government's steps to strengthen the domestic electric vehicle industry while building an integrated national electric motorcycle ecosystem from upstream to downstream.
The Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that during the visit, Prabowo would review production facilities and exhibition areas. The President will also receive a report on the development of Molinas, watch a program video, and provide directions.
"The activities will also continue with the launch of the Molinas ecosystem and the signing of a joint commitment with stakeholders," said Prasetyo.
Prasetyo explained that Molinas was not just directed to launch one brand or model of electric motorcycle. The program was developed as a national ecosystem that includes industry and manufacturing, components and batteries, charging infrastructure, battery swapping services, financing, distribution, after-sales services, and strengthening market absorption.
"PT Len Industri will play a role as a lead integrator to orchestrate collaboration between stakeholders in the development of the ecosystem," he said.
According to Prasetyo, the development of the Molinas ecosystem is expected to strengthen the industrial downstream as well as increase the manufacturing capacity and domestic supply chain.
The program is also projected to open new jobs and increase the involvement of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives in the national electric vehicle industry.
"At the same time, the development of electric motors will be directed to support energy resilience through reducing dependence on fuel and increasing the use of electricity," he said.
The government ensures that the development of industries, supply chains, infrastructure, financing, and market absorption is carried out in an integrated and sustainable manner.
Prasetyo said that the potential economic development of the Molinas ecosystem end to end (E2E) in the period 2026-2031 is estimated to reach around IDR 150 trillion.
In terms of employment, the program is projected to absorb around 215,000 workers spread across the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), components, batteries, and charging infrastructure sectors.
The development of national electric motors is also expected to reduce dependence on fuel oil while reducing fuel subsidies and improving the trade balance of the energy sector.
The economic impact of the existence of the electric motorcycle ecosystem is estimated to reach around IDR 82.2 trillion. In addition, the reduction in dependence on crude oil imports is projected to increase the trade balance in the period 2027-2037 to around IDR 45 trillion.
"The government hopes that the development of Molinas can encourage the growth of an increasingly strong electric motor industry, increase added value in the country, and provide wider benefits for the community and the national economy," concluded Prasetyo.
