JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita denied that the textile and finished clothing industry sub-sector experienced a decline in performance or contraction.

Agus said that the sub-sector was able to grow by 0.93 percent until the third quarter of 2025.

This was conveyed by Agus at the One Year Prebowo-Gibran Government Featured Program Event in Jakarta, Wednesday night, November 5.

"The textile industry and clothing are growing. Growing! This is the concern of many parties, observers, academics, business actors, it is considered that the textile and clothing industry is contraction. But actually it grows, it grows 0.93 percent," said Agus.

Not only the textile and clothing industry is growing, the paper and goods industry sub-sector from paper, printing and reproducing recorded media is also able to grow by more than 2 percent.

"The paper industry and goods from paper, printing and reproduction of this recorded media are still growing, but the growth is 2.19 percent," he said.

On the other hand, Agus said, there are five other sub-sectors that have experienced a decline in performance, aka contracted, currently including the skin industry, leather goods and footwear -0.25 percent, the tobacco processing industry -0.93 percent and the transportation equipment industry.

Then, there is the rubber industry, rubber and plastic goods -3.20 percent, furniture industry -4.34 percent as well as the wood industry, wood andMINAl goods and woven goods from bamboo, rattan and the like which -9.60 percent.

"I will not cover up this data because, after all, you can get this data from BPS. But, I deliberately conveyed it in this happy forum to get the attention of all of us," explained Agus.

"Karena tentu kerja sama dari pelaku usaha, khususnya itu juga akan bisa membantu sektor-sektor tadi masih kontraksi, sektor-sektor yang pertumbuhannya belum sekuat dari sektor lain, itu nanti bisa rebound pada kuartal keempat," pungkasnya.

"Because of course the cooperation of business actors, in particular, will also be able to help the sectors are still contracting, the sectors whose growth is not as strong as other sectors, can rebound in the fourth quarter," he concluded.
