Another Islamic Boarding School Occurs In East Java Collapses, The Ministry Of Public Works Opens Voice

JAKARTA - The collapse of the Islamic boarding school building (ponpes) has occurred again in the country. This time, the incident occurred at the Salafiah Syafiah Syaf'iyah Ponpes Syekh Abdul Qodir Jaelani, Blimbing Village, Besuki District, Situbondo Regency, East Java.

One of the girls' dormitory buildings at the boarding school collapsed, killing one female student and injuring 11 others.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, October 29.

Responding to this, Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU) Diana Kusumastuti said that her party would accelerate the audit process for the quality of Islamic boarding schools scattered in Indonesia.

This is like the plan previously coordinated with the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin.

"The Ministry of Public Works will first conduct an audit of the Islamic boarding schools that are currently carrying out developments, especially now that they are collapsing and so on. We are conducting an audit and earlier, Mrs. Director General of Human Settlements also said that all of these friends (PU employees) had been distributed (to the locations of Islamic boarding schools)," Diana said when met at her office, Wednesday, October 29.

Diana explained that Public Works employees were distributed to Islamic boarding schools to check building construction.

This also includes identifying the cause of the collapse of the boarding school building.

"There are 80 Islamic boarding schools identified by friends from Cipta Karya. That's the information I've received so far," he said.

Selain itu, kata Diana, pihaknya juga tidak bisa langsung mengambil langkah perbaikan dari ponpes-popes yang ambruk.

Pemda terkait bersama aparat penegak hukum terlebih dulu harus melakukan identifikasi, khususnya dalam mengecek apakah ada korban dalam peristiwa tersebut.

"Kalau untuk ambruk, langsung kami bangun enggak bisa. Kami, kan, harus identifikasi dulu ada korbannya apa enggak. Kayak kemarin ada korban, berarti harus ditangani dulu oleh kepolisian. Kalau sudah, baru kami nanti bisa masuk lagi," jelas dia.

In addition, said Diana, his party also could not immediately take steps to improve from the collapsed Islamic boarding schools.

The local government, together with law enforcement officials, must first identify, especially in checking whether there were victims in the incident.

"If it's to collapse, we can't immediately build it. We, right, have to identify the victims first or not. Like yesterday there were victims, it means that the police have to handle it first. If so, then we can later enter again," he explained.
