JAKARTA - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN) is again holding the 2025 BTN Housingpreneur competition from October 22 to December 15.
The event aims to find superior entrepreneurial and innovator seeds to strengthen the national housing ecosystem.
"BTN Housingpreneur is a grassroots movement to capture fresh ideas and innovative solutions in responding to the challenge of home ownership in Indonesia," said BTN Risk Management Director Setiyo Wibowo at the Kick Start BTN Housingpreneur 2025 at the University of Indonesia, Depok, Tuesday, October 28.
Setiyo did not deny that currently there are still many families in Indonesia who do not have a home. In fact, as the largest country in ASEAN, the contribution of the domestic housing sector to gross domestic product (GDP) is actually the lowest in the region.
He added that the housing backlog figure in Indonesia is the highest in the ASEAN region, which is around 3.6 percent.
In addition, the ratio of home ownership loans (KPR) to Indonesia's GDP is also still low, only about 3.4 percent, while other countries such as the Philippines have reached 7-8 percent.
"Through BTN Housingpreneur, we want to encourage the emergence of innovators who can offer real solutions to answer housing problems and generate businesses from these innovations," he said.
BTN Corporate Secretary Ramon Armando said, through this event, his party wanted the participants to present innovative ideas and use environmentally friendly materials, energy-efficient and support the principle of sustainability.
According to Ramon, BTN Housingpreneur 2025 is not only a competition for students, but is also open to entrepreneurs who are already running.
"We also form alumni communities from each generation. They share experiences, collaborate, and even create joint projects. So, Housingpreneur is not just a competition, but a movement to produce young entrepreneurs in the national housing ecosystem," he said.
Meanwhile, Director of Cooperation Development, Commercialization of Integrated Assets and Areas of the University of Indonesia, Winny Hanifiati Warouw, appreciated BTN's move to hold the annual competition as a forum for collaboration between academia and industry.
"By carrying out the concept of eco-tech housing and sustainability, BTN Housingpreneur is in line with the UI spirit to build the nation in a sustainable manner. Collaboration between campuses, industry and financial institutions such as BTN is the key to the birth of an innovation ecosystem in the housing sector," he explained.
