Prabowo Orders Dody Hanggodo To Help Resolve Garbage In Bantar Gebang

BEKASI - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo received instructions from President Prabowo Subianto to help deal with waste problems in the country through infrastructure development.

One of them is the garbage mountain in Bantar Gebang.

Dody said that the problem of handling waste is one of the government's focuses in accordance with the mandate of the Head of State.

This was conveyed by Dody at the 2025 World Day and World City Day Peak (HHD-HKD) at the Upper Medium People's School (SRMA) 13, Pangudi Luhur Center, Bekasi, West Java, Monday, October 27.

"How high is the waste in Bantar Gebang and this is also the main concern of President Prabowo. The President has instructed us all to immediately complete the piles or mountains of garbage in Bantar Gebang. We will immediately clean it up," said Dody.

He said that waste has been one of the problems that has been around for a long time, but the handling has faced many challenges.

In the future, the government has prepared a number of strategies, one of which is by converting waste into electricity.

"So in the future, the garbage has been mounting like that, we will burn it, we will convert it into electricity. So, God willing, in the future there will be no more mountains," he said.

According to Dody, several types of waste can be converted into other fuels, such as gas fuel to compost.

While garbage can no longer be converted and has become a mountain, the plan is to burn it and then assist with power generation operations.

"That is the message from the President, how from the start we must have a high stance on waste matters. God willing, in the future, garbage can become our friends, yes. Don't be hostile, we will even bother ourselves," he said.

"Because if the garbage has been mounting, the garbage is thrown into the river, the garbage is thrown into the sea, in the end we are all difficult. If it rains it will become a flood, if there is sea water rising a little, it will become a flood and so on. We are all difficult if we are hit by floods," he continued.

Selain itu, Dody juga berpesan kepada masyarakat, khususnya kalangan anak muda untuk membiasakan diri memilah sampah sejak dini.

Dengan demikian, pengelolaan sampah ke depannya bisa lebih cepat dan sistematis.

"Pesannya sangat kuat kepada kami semua agar lebih peduli kepada sampah sendiri. Lebih memilah-memilih sebelum dimasukkan ke dalam tong sampah, itu sudah sangat bagus. Karena kami tua-tua ini sangat berharap kepada adik-adik semua, para generasi muda, untuk lebih peduli kepada urusan persampahan ini," terangnya.

In addition, Dody also advised the public, especially young people, to get used to sorting waste from an early age.

Thus, future waste management can be faster and more systematic.

"The message is very strong for all of us to be more concerned about the garbage themselves. They are more picky before being put into the trash can, it is already very good. Because we parents really hope for all the younger siblings, the younger generation, to be more concerned with this waste affair," he explained.
