Airplane Ticket Tariffs Drop Up To 14 Percent During The Christmas 2025 And New Year 2026 Periods

JAKARTA - The government officially lowered the flight ticket rate by 13 to 14 percent for the 2025 Christmas and 2026 (Nataru) new year transportation periods. Policy is part of the economic stimulus provided by the government.

This decision is also a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's directive regarding strengthening strategic steps to maintain the momentum of national economic growth in the second semester of 2025, focusing on increasing household consumption and people's purchasing power.

Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, said that the policy of reducing plane ticket prices is a form of the government's commitment to ease the burden on people who want to celebrate Christmas and the new year.

Dudy said the decrease in ticket prices applies to domestic tickets for the economy class for the flight period 22 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, with the purchase period 22 October 2025 to 10 January 2026.

"We take this step so that connectivity between regions is maintained and community mobility runs smoothly at a more affordable rate. We want to ensure that all people can enjoy air transportation services, especially during Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026," said Dudy in an official statement, Tuesday, October 21.

Therefore, Dudy also invited the entire community to take advantage of the reduction in flight ticket rates in the Nataru period.

Furthermore, Dudy said that the reduction in aircraft ticket rates was the result of adjustments to a number of cost components, including the Government Borne Value Added Tax (VAT) (DTP) of 6 percent, jet fuel surcharge (FS) of 2 percent, and FS Propeller of 20 percent.

Then, Aircraft Passenger Services (PJP2U) of 50 percent, Landing Services, Placement, and Aircraft Storage (PJP4U) services of 50 percent, decline in avtur prices at 37 airports, as well as advanced services as well as extended and longer operating hours.

Technical regulations related to this policy are contained in a number of regulations, including the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 50 of 2025 concerning the Decree in the Amount of Additional Fuel Fee (Fuel Surcharge) of Passengers for Domestic Scheduled Commercial Air Transport Economic Class Services During the Christmas Day 2025 and New Year 2026.

"I express my appreciation and gratitude to all parties who have collaborated in efforts to reduce ticket rates for this aircraft, starting from related ministries/agencies, airlines, fuel providers, to airport managers. Hopefully it can provide direct benefits to the community," said Dudy.

Dudy said that later at the time of its implementation, the Ministry of Transportation would not only focus on decreasing prices, but also on the quality of flight services and safety.
