Police Find 351 Illegal Coal Filled Containers From The IKN Area

JAKARTA - The National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) revealed that it had secured 351 containers containing coal in Surabaya.

It is known that this 'gold black' commodity comes from mining without a permit (PETI) in the Bukit Suharto area, the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

Deputy Director of Certain Crimes (Wadirtipidter) Feby Dapot Hutagalung said, based on the results of investigations in the field, it was known that the mining activities had been carried out from 2016 to 2025.

"In Surabaya, we confiscated 351 containers containing coal, where the coal was mined from the IKN area," he said in Minerba Convex, quoted Friday, October 17.

Feby admitted that controlling illegal mining was indeed difficult because of the involvement of certain protected parties. According to him, several parties involved include police officers, community leaders, party leaders and traditional leaders, making it difficult to control.

"Why can't the 9-year-old take firm action? Because there is involvement. We don't need to mention who the person is," he said.

As a result of these activities, Feby said state losses reached Rp5.7 trillion from environmental damage caused to commodities that had been successfully mined.

"This is still in process, there are several police reports that we are handling," he added.

After securing the coal truck, Feby said that his party then traced its origin until it managed to find 3 companies that carried out the illegal practice.
