JAKARTA - BPJS Ketenagakerjaan handed over the Employment Social Security (Jamsostek) compensation for the death of a national game national athlete, Naufal Takdir Al Bari (19). Naufal died after an accident while undergoing a training camp at The Palace of Sport Training Center
The unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday, September 13, and after undergoing intensive treatment at GA Zakharyin Hospital for 12 days, Naufal breathed his last on Thursday, September 25 local time.
Head of the DKI Jakarta BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Regional Office, Deny Yusyulian expressed his deep condolences for the passing of Naufal.
"We are sorry for the death of Naufal Takdir Al Bari," said Deny, quoted on Saturday, October 4.
Deny said, Naufal together with four Indonesian men's national game athletes and two coaches have been in Russia since September 1, 2025 in a training camp program supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports National Sports Training Center.
While training on September 13, Naufal suffered an accident that caused injury.
"Since the injury, he was treated intensively, but eventually died on September 25," explained Deny.
As a form of protection, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan handed over compensation to Naufal Takdir Al Bari's family represented by the General Chair of the Indonesian Gimnastic Federation Ita Yuliati with a total benefit of Rp268,493,510.
The details include death compensation of Rp. 243,312,000, funeral expenses of Rp. 10,000,000, regular compensation of Rp. 12,000,000, and Old Age Security (JHT) of Rp. 3,181,510.
The symbolic handover of compensation took place Thursday 2 October at the Human Remains Transit Lounge at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, coinciding with the release of the body from the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow to the General Chairperson of the Central KONI.
Present at the event were Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta BPJS Employment Service Area Tri Pambudi Santoso, Chairman of KONI Lt. Gen. TNI Retired Marciano Norman, Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Dr Gunawan Suswantoro, and President of Federation Internationale De Gymnastique (FIG) Morinari Watanabe.
Furthermore, Deny appreciated Persani's steps in registering her fostered athletes with BPJS Employment participation. According to him, the protection of the Jamsostek program for sportsmen is very important.
"We are grateful that parties such as Kemenpora and KONI also ensure that all athletes and coaches are protected throughout their careers," said Deny.
He also emphasized that ideally all athletes will take part in four complete programs, namely Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Security (JKM), Old Age Security (JHT), and Pension Security (JP). "But for the beginning, two basic programs, namely JKK and JKM, have provided important protection," said Deny.
According to Deny, the athlete profession includes high-risk work and is prone to injury and even death, such as the risk that befell Naufal Al Bari. Meanwhile, many cases show athletes have lost their career opportunities because they do not have adequate protection.
"We don't want any more athletes to retire early just because they don't get proper injury treatment," said Deny.
Deny added, in addition to the benefits of compensation, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan also gave the right in the form of compensation while Unable to work (STMB) of 100 percent wages for the first 12 months and 50 percent in the following month until recovering. "Even for death, it is not due to work accidents, given compensation for death of Rp42 million," said Deny.
Not only that, but the children who died or experienced total disabilities are also entitled to educational scholarships to universities with a total benefit of Rp. 174 million for two children. "This is clear evidence that the state is present and cares about athletes who have made the nation proud," said Deny.
With this protection, Deny hopes that athletes can focus more on pursuing achievements without being burdened with socio-economic risks.
"We want to ensure that every Indonesian athlete is protected, so that they can fight calmly to make the nation proud," said Deny.
Head of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Jakarta Kelapa Gading Office, Ivan Sahat H. Pandjaitan, also expressed his deep condolences for the passing of Naufal Takdir Al Bari. He emphasized the importance of protecting Employment Social Security for athletes, given the high risk in their profession.
