Bonded Area Contributes 30 Percent Of National Exports, Results In Foreign Exchange Of IDR 3,140 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) reported that from 2023 to August 2025 the tied area (KB) had contributed about 30 percent to the total national exports, and generated foreign exchange of IDR 3,140 trillion.

Director of Communication and Guidance for Users of Customs and Excise Services Nirwala Dwi Heryanto said that his party continues to strengthen the role of braided areas as strategic instruments in supporting export-oriented industries.

According to him, this facility has proven to be able to increase competitiveness, attract investment, and absorb large amounts of labor, as well as remain within the framework of transparent supervision.

He explained that the braided area was designed to provide fiscal stimulus while maintaining the country's accountability.

Nirwala said that through the facility to suspend import duties and import taxes on raw materials and capital goods, companies can reduce production costs so that they are more competitive in the global market.

Until August 2025, there were 1,512 companies operating with a braided area scheme. This industry managed to absorb more than 1.83 million workers, contribute about 30 percent to the total national exports, and generate foreign exchange of IDR 3,140 trillion," he said in his statement, quoted Thursday, September 25.

He added that the facility of the tied area is in fact not only a motor driving exports, but also an investment attraction.

Nirwala said that in 2024, the tied area managed to record industrial investment of IDR 221.53 trillion, as well as show its role as a magnet for business actors.

Meski memberikan insentif besar, ia menyampaikan Bea Cukai tetap memastikan pengawasan berjalan optimal dan menerapkan manajemen risiko, audit kepabeanan, sistem IT Inventory yang terintegrasi, serta pemantauan melalui CCTV online.

Menurutnya, dengan mekanisme ini, seluruh fasilitas yang diberikan dapat terjaga akuntabilitasnya.

“Pendekatan ini kami padukan dengan ruang dialog terbuka bersama pelaku industri, agar fasilitas kawasan berikat dimanfaatkan secara maksimal dengan tetap mematuhi ketentuan yang berlaku,” ujarnya.

As for supporting these activities, the government also provided fiscal facilities worth IDR 69.63 trillion in the same period.

Despite providing large incentives, he said Customs and Excise still ensures optimal supervision and implements risk management, customs audits, integrated IT Inventory systems, and online CCTV monitoring.

According to him, with this mechanism, all facilities provided can be maintained with accountability.

"We combine this approach with an open dialogue room with industry players, so that the facilities for tied areas are utilized optimally while still complying with applicable regulations," he said.
