JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Purbaya Yudhi Sadivewa as Minister of Finance replacing Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

Responding to the direction of state revenue policy under his leadership, Purbaya said that there has been no special direction from the President and is currently still in the stage of studying the current conditions.

"Not yet, there is no (instruction from the President). I told him to study at the Director General of Taxes," he said when met at the Ministry of Finance Office, Monday, September 8.

He emphasized that currently no specific policies have been prepared and the initial step is to understand existing plans, while evaluating the optimizable aspects.

Purbaya also highlighted that the tax ratio to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) tends to stagnate and is not easy to improve in a short time, so accelerating economic growth is the main focus.

"Let's say we cannot change in the near future, to increase taxes, we will accelerate economic growth," he said.

Lebih lanjut, ia menyampaikan, Presiden Prabowo memberikan mandat yang jelas yaitu untuk mendorong laju pertumbuhan ekonomi secepat mungkin sehingga pentingnya memaksimalkan peran kebijakan fiskal dalam menopang perekonomian.

"Itu yang akan kita kerjakan ke depan. Saya akan melihat di keuangan ada apa, instrumen apa yang masih bisa kita optimalkan, di situ akan kita maksimalkan supaya ekonominya jalan lebih cepat," imbuhnya.

Furthermore, he said, President Prabowo gave a clear mandate, namely to encourage the pace of economic growth as quickly as possible so that the importance of maximizing the role of fiscal policy in supporting the economy.

"That's what we will do in the future. I will see in finance what happens, what instruments we can still optimize, there we will maximize so that the economy can run faster," he added.
