JAKARTA - The progress of the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Phase 1B project has reached 61.79 percent in July 2025. The 6.4 km public transportation mode connecting Velodrome to Manggarai is targeted for completion in 2026 so that it can support the smooth mobility of Jakarta residents.

PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) also supports the construction of the LRT Phase 1B Velodrome Route Manggarai by supplying building materials. As of July 2025, GIS has supplied 19,190 tons of cement for the construction of the National Strategic Project.

The construction of the LRT Velodrome-Manggarai route is an important part of efforts to strengthen connectivity between modes of transportation in Jakarta, because it is integrated with Manggarai Station which was developed as the first central station in Indonesia to serve long-distance trains (KA), airport trains, and KRL (Electric Rail Train). The Velodrome-Manggarai LRT route, which consists of five stations including Rawamangun Station, BPKP Scout Station, Pramuka Market Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station, will also be integrated with Transjakarta.

GIS Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni said, the LRT Velodrome-Manggarai Route is increasingly completing alternative public transportation options in Jakarta. Its presence will provide new experiences on the journey which is expected to attract more Jakarta residents to switch to public transportation. GIS is proud to be able to contribute to the development of this strategic project by supplying UltraPro cement and SprintPro.

The Velodrome-Manggarai route is a faster integrated transportation solution that supports the smooth mobility of Jakarta residents, while reducing congestion and vehicle emissions. The involvement of the GIS in this project shows public confidence in the quality of GIS cement products that have proven to produce solid construction with good resilience in the long term," said Vita Mahreyni.

In the construction of the LRT Velodrome-Manggarai route, SIG cement products are used in making a pile drill or vertical pole-shaped foundation that is planted into the ground to withstand the structural load above it, as well as to channel the building loads into the soil layer. SIG cement products are also used in making pile caps or concrete plates that connect foundations with many stakepoles and unify them, which serve to distribute loads to all stakepoles below.

SprintPro is cement with maximum strength that provides the best speed in achieving strong pressure on the beginning of concrete with hydration heat maintained, and final results that are not easily cracked. SprintPro has been applied in many projects, including MRT Jakarta Phase II, Kediri Airport, Cisumdawu Toll Road, Cipali Toll Road, Palimanan Toll Road, and JICT Container Yard.

Meanwhile, UltraPro is a cement with optimal strength to support the strengthening of construction in the long term, which has also been applied to various prestigious projects in Indonesia, including LRT Jakarta, Jakarta International Stadium, Trans Sumatra Toll Road, Yogyakarta International Airport, Thamrin Nine Highrise Building, to KCIC Fast Train.

"With more than 100 years of experience, SIG cement products have produced iconic infrastructure and buildings in Indonesia which until now still stand firmly. The quality and quality of GIS products that are maintained make it the main choice in construction activities to support development in Indonesia," said Vita Mahreyni.
