CGAS Targets LNG Station In Karawang To Operate 2026

JAKARTA - PT Citra Nusantara Gemilang Tbk (CGAS), targets the construction of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Station project in Tanjung Pakis, Karawang, West Java, to operate in 2026.

Meanwhile, the Company's strategic project is projected to have a production capacity of 1.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) with a gas source coming from Galian 1 Well which is a marginal gas well managed by Pertamina EP.

"The plan is for CGAS to operate the Karawang LNG Station in the fourth quarter of 2026," said CGAS President Director, Andika Purwonugroho, quoted on Tuesday, September 2.

He explained that this step is part of CGAS' expansion strategy in supporting the acceleration of the clean energy transition. The construction of the LNG Station Karawang facility is also one of the implementations of the use of funds from the initial public offering (IPO) of shares allocated for the development of environmentally friendly energy infrastructure.

"In the next 10 years, this facility is expected to be able to encourage energy efficiency in industrial areas, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, as well as have a positive impact on the environment," continued Andika.

With the increasing demand for domestic LNG, he continued, CGAS is optimistic that this will become the latest growth pillar while strengthening the company's clean energy portfolio.

"The use of IPO funds until June this year has been used for face payments for the initial purchase of LNG equipment worth Rp. 67.96 billion and working capital of Rp. 17.31 billion," he explained.

Thus, the company used IPO funds of IDR 85.28 billion in mid-2025.

Meanwhile, the Karawang LNG Station was designed by the Company to support financial performance and make CGAS a strategic partner of the government in accelerating the development of national clean energy infrastructure in the coming period.

Previously, the management of Citra Nusantara Gemilang on July 28, 2025 operated the Compressed Natural Gas Station (CNG) in Gresik, East Java, which has a capacity of 2 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd), or the equivalent of 20 million cubic meters per year.

Perseroan berpotensi meraih tambahan pendapatan Rp150 miliar per tahun dari proyek ini. Andika menyampaikan perseroan melalui anak usahanya PT Citra Nusantara Energi mendorong laju ekspansi untuk memperkuat pasokan energi ramah lingkungan sekaligus mendorong pertumbuhan industri dan perekonomian lokal di bagian timur Pulau Jawa.

“Selain itu, beroperasinya fasilitas ini diharapkan dapat membuka lapangan kerja baru bagi masyarakat sekitar untuk kebutuhan tenaga kerja operasional. UMKM juga mendapatkan manfaat sebagai bagian dari rantai pasok dan layanan penunjang di sekitar CNG Station(CNGS) dan LNG Station(LNGS),” tandas Andika.

The company has the potential to earn an additional IDR 150 billion per year from this project. Andika conveyed that the company, through its subsidiary PT Citra Nusantara Energi, encourages expansion to strengthen environmentally friendly energy supply while at the same time encouraging industrial and local economic growth in the eastern part of Java Island.

In addition, the operation of this facility is expected to open new jobs for the surrounding community for operational labor needs. MSMEs also benefit as part of the supply chain and supporting services around CNG Stations (CNGS) and LNG Stations (LNGS)," said Andika.
