Automotive Industry Investment Reaches IDR 174.31 Trillion, Absorbs 100 Thousand Workers

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) noted that the total investment from the motor vehicle industry has reached IDR 174.31 trillion to date.

Director of Maritime Industry, Transportation Equipment and Defense Equipment (IMATAP) of the Ministry of Industry, Mahardi Tunggul Wicaksono, said the donations came from 32 manufacturers of 4-wheeled vehicles and 73 manufacturers of 2- and 3-wheeled vehicles.

"Our national automotive industry is supported by 32 manufacturers of 4-wheeled motorized vehicles with 73 manufacturers of 2- and 3-wheeled motorized vehicles. So, the current production capacity reaches 2.3 million and 10.7 million. Each for 4-wheeled, 2-wheeled and 3-wheeled wheels," said Tunggul in a media discussion entitled Import BEV Incentive Polemic in Jakarta, Monday, August 25.

In the presentation shown, the four-wheeled motor vehicle industry has absorbed up to 69.39 thousand workers.

Meanwhile, the two- and three-wheeled motor vehicle industry managed to absorb 30.31 thousand Nakers.

In total, the number of employment absorptions touched 100,000.

Meanwhile, incoming investments reached Rp143.91 trillion for the 4-wheeled vehicle industry and Rp30.4 trillion in the 2-wheeled and 3-wheeled vehicle industry.

The total of both reached around Rp. 174 trillion.

"Both industries absorb nearly 70,000 workers and nearly 30,000 workers for the 2-wheeled and 3-wheeled industries," he said.

Meanwhile, in the electric vehicle assembly industry, there are 7 electric bus manufacturers with a production capacity of 3,100 units per year, 9 electric car companies with a production capacity of 70,060 units per year and 66 two and three-wheeled vehicle companies with a production capacity of 2.37 million units per year.

The total investment of the three industries reached IDR 5.65 trillion, with the largest portion contributed by the electric car industry of IDR 4.12 trillion.

"Currently, there are 7 manufacturers for electric buses, 9 manufacturers for electric cars and 66 companies for two and three electric wheels, with a total investment of IDR 5.6 trillion," he explained.

Dia mengungkapkan, adanya kenaikan populasi kendaraan listrik berkat pemberian insentif program percepatan pengembangan ekosistem kendaraan listrik.

Pada 2024, total populasi mencapai 207.000 unit, meningkat sebesar 78 persen dibandingkan dengan 2023 sebanyak 116.000 unit.

"Dan sampai Juni tahun ini, populasinya sudah mencapai kurang lebih 270.000-an. Nah, ini terdiri dari kendaraan listrik roda 4, kemudian ada juga roda 2 kurang lebih 200.000-an dari angka itu. Selebihnya, yaitu kendaraan listrik seperti bus dan kendaraan komersial lain," pungkasnya.

He revealed that there was an increase in the population of electric vehicles thanks to the provision of incentives for the acceleration program for the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

In 2024, the total population will reach 207,000 units, an increase of 78 percent compared to 2023 as many as 116,000 units.

"And until June this year, the population has reached approximately 270,000. Well, this consists of 4-wheeled electric vehicles, then there are also 2-wheelers of approximately 200,000 of that number. The rest, namely electric vehicles such as buses and other commercial vehicles," he concluded.
