JAKARTA - As part of the commitment to realize an inclusive world of work, the North Jakarta Employment BPJS held a Workshop on the Sensitivity of Disabilities Recruitment on August 19, 2025 at Pullman Jakarta Central Park. The activity, which was attended by 50 business entities participating in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan area of North Jakarta, aims to encourage companies to open job opportunities for people with disabilities.

This workshop is part of the Inclusive Job Center initiative, a BPJS Employment program that aims to expand access to work information for both participating companies and job seekers from disability groups.

Head of the Jakarta Cilincing BPJS Employment Branch Office, Rita Mariana, emphasized the importance of the involvement of all parties in realizing a fair and equal world of work.

"Disability workers have the same right to get job opportunities. This is a mandate of the law that we must realize together. The world of work must reflect diversity and inclusiveness," said Rita Mariana.

He also added that the company's role was crucial in changing the paradigm of disability in the world of work.

"We hope that participating companies can open their eyes and hearts, and start recruiting people with disabilities. They have the same potential and competence as other workers," he continued.

As a legal umbrella, Article 53 of Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities has regulated the obligation of the private sector to employ at least one percent of people with disabilities out of total workers, as well as two percent for the public sector, including state-owned enterprises and government agencies.

This workshop also presents various stakeholders, including the DKI Jakarta Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office, the National Commission for Disabilities, and Parakerja a startup that has since 2018 focused on empowering people with disabilities in the world of work.

Parakerja explained various practical approaches in training, job placement, and provision of accessibility such as sign interpreters, as well as their role as company consultants in recruiting persons with disabilities.
