JAKARTA - The budget absorption of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) is still far from the expected target.

The reason is, until the first semester of 2025, the budget absorption of the infrastructure ministry has only reached 26.74 percent.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, when giving a speech at the signing of the Joint Agreement with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) at the Ministry of Public Works office, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 19.

"As of the second quarter of 2025, to be precise in June, the absorption of the budget at the Ministry of Public Works is indeed very low, only 26.74 percent," said Dody.

According to Dody, the low budget absorption is because the Ministry of Public Works is busy dealing with budget politics, especially with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) related to budget efficiency for all ministries/state institutions.

"Because in the first half (2025) we were busy with budget politics, until the energy ran out there. The figure of 26.74 was certainly far below the target," he said.

The budget has been used for the construction of roads, irrigation, and dams.

Even so, Dody believes that by the end of December 2025, the Ministry of Public Works' budget absorption could reach more than 90 percent.

Given, he said, his party will conduct a review of what hinders the low absorption of the budget.

"However, we believe that by the end of December 2025 we can reach absorption, perhaps more than 90 percent. And our absorption project monitors weekly, month by month, so that our big target can absorb more than 90 percent by the end of 2025", he concluded.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Works' budget for 2025 was set at IDR 73.76 trillion.

Minister Hanggodo said the ceiling had been designed to answer basic development needs while maintaining national economic growth.

"Our ceiling as of May 2025 is IDR 73.76 trillion which we have carefully compiled to answer basic development needs while maintaining the continuity of economic growth," said Dody at a Working Meeting with Commission V DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 9.
