Deputy Minister Of PKP Invites Students To Actively Overcome Poverty And Housing Problems

Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (Wamen PKP) Fahri Hamzah invites students to take an active role in overcoming the problem of poverty and housing in Indonesia.

"Students must maintain concern, not be selfish, and always prioritize the interests of the nation. As long as the yellow jacket fighter stands, this Republic will survive and become strong. Let's work together, study, work, and pray for a common future," Fahri said quoting Antara.

He emphasized the importance of the role of the younger generation, especially vocational students, in presenting solutions through innovation and entrepreneurship, including in the housing sector.

He reminded that technological developments and artificial intelligence will change many types of work, but the value of humanity remains the key to the success of development.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the World Bank, Indonesia still faces major challenges in the welfare and housing sector.

It is recorded that around 1 million families live in extreme poverty, around 10 million families are poor, and millions of other families are categorized as poor.

The government through the Ministry of PKP is targeting the construction and renovation of three million houses per year that can accommodate 910 million people.

Currently, the number of housing needs in Indonesia includes 20 million families wanting to renovate houses, around 10 million families not yet owning houses and 6 million families not owning houses and living in inadequate housing.

To answer this need, the government has prepared three strategic steps, namely Renovation of two million houses, Revitalization of coastal areas and riverbanks and finally Development of housing in adjacent locations according to the workplace.
