RI's 80th Anniversary, Pertagas Affirms Commitment To Being A National Industry Driver

JAKARTA PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), which is under Pertamina's Gas Subholding, continues to strengthen national energy security while supporting the pace of economic growth by providing energy infrastructure to meet domestic natural gas needs.

The President Director of Pertagas, Indra P. Sembiring, emphasized that the company always plays an active role in the development of the national industry through the development of a gas distribution network to a number of special economic areas.

"At the momentum of the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Pertagas is committed to being the main driver for the growth of the national industry," said Indra in his statement in Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, August 16.

He conveyed that through gas distribution in various special economic areas, his party not only maintains energy supply, but also actively supports government programs in encouraging industrial downstream in order to strengthen the national economy.

He said that throughout 2024, natural gas distribution of 560,523 million Kubik Foot Standards (MMSCF) with the majority of gas supply allocated to meet the needs of the electricity sector, fertilizer sector, and the national strategic industrial sector.

Pertagas actually manages and develops infrastructure to support Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Indonesia, including SEZ Arun Lhokseumawe, Pertagas operates LNG Receiving and Regasification Terminal to meet the needs of the Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) power plant and industry in Lhokseumawe.

Furthermore, LNG which was regasified was channeled through the Arun-Belawan-KIM-KEK transmission pipeline for gas supply to PT PLN Belawan and the industrial sector in the Medan Industrial Estate (KIM) and the Sei Mengkei Special Economic Zone (KEK).

In addition, Pertagas is also the backbone of gas supply for the national fertilizer industry in South Sumatra (Pusri), West Java (Pupuk Kujang), East Java (Petrochemical Gresik/PKG), and Kalimantan (Pupuk Kaltim/KT).

On the island of Java, Pertagas carries out the operational management of the Cirebon-Semarang Gas Pipe (Cisem) owned by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), which plays a vital role in distributing gas to the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) and the Kendal Industrial Estate (KIK).

Based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the projected industrial potential that can use gas from the Cisem-1 Pipeline operated by Pertagas in Kendal and Batang is around 40 industries.

"The availability of reliable gas infrastructure is the key to accelerating the stretch of the national industry by distributing natural gas supplies to various industrial areas and strategic sectors," added Indra.

PT Pertamina Gas Corporate Secretary Sulthani Adil Mangaturn added that his party continues to play an active role in realizing reliable energy distribution, strengthening national industries, creating jobs, and contributing to the welfare of the Indonesian people.

He emphasized that this was in line with the theme of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia which raised the theme "United Sovereign, People of Prosperous, Advanced Indonesia".

According to him, as a midstream company in the energy sector, Pertagas is determined to develop and manage reliable and efficient energy infrastructure with appropriate technology to meet national and global energy needs.
