Puan Highlights Serakhannomic Behavior Over Natural Resources Exploitation, Illegal Mining, To Online Gambling

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani expressed her concern over the social and economic realities facing the nation today.

Puan highlighted the illegal business practices carried out by a handful of parties who actually exploited the people and natural resources for personal gain.

"We face a harsh reality. A small number of people, with all their strengths, actually exploit the people and natural resources through manipulative business practices: illegal businesses, illegal mining, online gambling, drugs, smuggling, and so on," he said in a speech at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

He considered that the benefits obtained from these activities had exceeded the limits of economic rationality and human values.

Puan also quoted a sharp term used by President Prabowo Subianto, namely serakahnomic an economic behavior based on greed and has damaged the joints of life of the nation and state.

"President Prabowo calls it the sharp term 'serakahnomic' a greedy behavior that damages the joints of life of the nation and state. This is a serious problem that we must face together," said Puan.

He added that this nation actually has people with extraordinary work ethic, ranging from farmers, fishermen, laborers, teachers, online motorcycle taxis, TNI, Polri, ASN, health workers in remote parts of the country they all work tirelessly.

Menurut Puan, untuk menjawab tantangan ini dibutuhkan pendekatan yang menyeluruh, melibatkan aspek politik, ekonomi, hukum, budaya, serta komitmen kolektif seluruh elemen bangsa.

Dia menekankan pentingnya menjalankan transformasi ekonomi yang berkeadilan, penegakan hukum yang tegas tanpa pandang bulu, serta kerja sama lintas sektor dalam rangka mendorong transformasi nasional.

"Dengan kebersamaan dan tekad bulat, kita yakin bahwa kita mampu memperkuat pondasi nasional yang akan menjadi kekuatan, demi mewujudkan Indonesia yang adil, maju, dan berdaulat," pungkasnya.

According to Puan, to answer this challenge, a comprehensive approach is needed, involving aspects of politics, economy, law, culture, and the collective commitment of all elements of the nation.

He emphasized the importance of carrying out a just economic transformation, firm law enforcement indiscriminately, and cross-sectoral cooperation in order to encourage national transformation.

"With togetherness and unanimous determination, we believe that we are able to strengthen the national foundation which will become a strength, in order to create a just, advanced, and sovereign Indonesia," he concluded.
