This Is The Component That Drives Economic Growth In The Second Quarter Of 2025

JAKARTA The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced that Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2025 reached 5.12 percent year on year (yoy).

Meanwhile, when compared to the first quarter of 2025, which recorded a growth of 4.87 percent (yoy), the economy in the second quarter also experienced a quarterly increase (quarter to quarter/qtq) of 4.04 percent.

BPS Deputy for Balance and Statistics Analysis Moh Edy Mahmud said that the manufacturing sector was the largest contributor to economic growth in the second quarter of 2025.

"The source of growth in the second quarter of 2025, the processing industry is the largest source of growth, namely 1.13 percent," he said at a press conference, Tuesday, August 5.

In addition, economic growth in the second quarter of 2025 was also supported by trading business fields of 0.70 percent, information and communication by 0.53 percent, and construction with a contribution of 0.47 percent.

Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, he explained that almost all components recorded positive growth, except for government consumption.

Edy added that the household consumption component is the largest contributor to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

"The expenditure component that contributes the largest to GDP is household consumption with a contribution of 54.25 percent, in the second quarter of 2025 this component grew quite strongly, which was 4.97 percent. This indicates that domestic demand is still strong," he said.

Meanwhile, the Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) component also contributed greatly to GDP in the second quarter of 2025, which was 27.83 percent, with growth reaching 6.99 percent.

Edy explained, the combination of household consumption components and PMTB contributed a total of 82.08 percent of GDP in the second quarter of 2025.

High growth was also recorded in the export and import components, namely exports grew thanks to the increase in the value of non-oil and gas exports and visits to the number of foreign tourists.

Sementara itu, pertumbuhan impor didorong oleh lonjakan impor barang modal serta bahan baku penolong, baik dari sisi nilai maupun volume.

"Jika dilihat dari sumber pertumbuhan pada triwulan II 2025, konsumsi rumah tangga masih menjadi sumber pertumbuhan terbesar yaitu sebesar 2,64 persen dari 5,12 persen pada pertumbuhan ekonomi di triwulan II. Selain itu pertumbuhan ekonomi triwulan II 2025 juga ditopang oleh komponen PMTB dengan sumber pertumbuhan 2,06 persen dan net ekspor memberikan sumber pertumbuhan 0,22 persen," tegasnya.

Meanwhile, import growth was driven by a surge in imports of capital goods and auxiliary raw materials, both in terms of value and volume.

"When viewed from the source of growth in the second quarter of 2025, household consumption is still the largest source of growth, which is 2.64 percent of 5.12 percent of the economic growth in the second quarter. In addition, economic growth in the second quarter of 2025 is also supported by the PMTB component with a growth source of 2.06 percent and net exports providing a source of growth of 0.22 percent," he said.
