Bulog Ensures Absorb Farmer's Corn Harvest Results In The Gorontalo Region

JAKARTA - Perum Bulog Gorontalo Branch ensures that it absorbs farmers' corn harvests throughout the region at a good price.

Head of the Gorontalo Bulog La Ode Suleman Branch in Gorontalo, Saturday, August 2, said they were ready to buy corn from farmers directly, covering border areas, such as Tolinggula District, North Gorontalo.

"We are ready to buy on the spot. This is a form of service provided by Bulog for corn farmers throughout the Gorontalo Province," said La Ode in response to farmers' aspirations, quoted by Antara.

He said that he ensured that corn absorption throughout 2025 had reached 3,615 tons or around Rp20 billion.

"We make it easier for farmers to get good prices. Although there is a response, the standards applied are quite strict when compared to selling to the private sector," he said.

It should be noted that Bulog bought corn as a Government Corn Reserve, not for business commodities. So that the shelf life of corn in Bulog's warehouse is confirmed to be long.

"So after we bought it, the corn was stored. Then we took care of it for a long shelf life. Because it is a government corn reserve, it must be maintained for a long shelf life," he said.

To ensure the resilience of shelf life, the quality of corn when entering the warehouse and in storage must remain good, in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

The government has guaranteed the price of dry flat corn at a very good price, so it is hoped that farmers can also strive for corn with good quality to be absorbed by Bulog.

Two corn purchase schemes that Bulog implemented were, firstly corn with water levels a maximum of 14 percent for 6,400 per kilogram. "That's the price in Bulog's warehouse," he said.

Second, corn with water levels of 18 to 20 percent at a price of Rp5,500 per kilogram. "That's the price at the farmers and we are ready to pick us up to deliver to the dryer and dry it so that we can store it as a government Corn Reserve stock," he said.

The standard applied at a good price, said La Ode, is believed to be able to encourage farmers to produce corn with excellent quality.
