Meninting Dam Sudah Proses Impounding, Siap Dukung Ketahanan Pangan Nasional

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK has completed the construction of the Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

The Rp902 billion project was carried out through an Operational Cooperation (KSO) scheme between Hutama Karya and PT Bahagia Bangunusa.

The scope of Hutama Karya's work includes the construction of dam bodies, public facilities, access roads to village bridges that are integrated with the social ecosystem of the surrounding community.

All constructions have now been completed and the impacting process or reservoir filling has started since June 29, 2025.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim conveyed that the completion of the Meninting Dam construction was Hutama Karya's real contribution in supporting national water and food security.

"This project not only solves the technical problems of water resources, but also provides very broad social, economic and ecological benefits for the people of NTB," said Adjib in a written statement, Friday, August 1.

With an irrigation system designed to serve an area of 1,559 hectares, the dam will provide direct benefits to more than 3,200 farmers and support an increase in the planting index from 252 percent to 300 percent.

"In addition, this dam is also capable of supplying raw water of 150 liters/second for more than 99,000 people in Gunung Sari and Batu Layar sub-districts," he said.

With a large water discharge, the Meninting Dam also has the potential for hydroelectric power plants (PLTA/Microhydro) of 0.8 MW and reduces flooding of 59 hectares during the rainy season.

"So, reducing the flood discharge that has so far had an impact on the people in the Lombok City area," explained Adjib.

"This dam also has the potential as a tourist destination and a means of environmental conservation," he continued.

Adjib added that the project's implementation received international recognition of "Top Entry in Country" in the ASEAN Innovation Awards 2023 Autodesk event through the implementation of the latest integrated construction technology innovation, such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), photogrametry and digital surveys which could benefit from accelerating the construction process to work accuracy.

"We believe that every infrastructure we build is not just a construction, but a foundation for equity and welfare. Projects such as the Meninting Dam prove development is present to reach those that have been left behind," he added.

Untuk diketahui, Menteri Pekerjaan Umum (PU) Dody Hanggodo sudah melakukan kunjungan ke lokasi bendungan pada 14 Juli 2025.

Dalam arahannya, Menteri Dody menyatakan, Bendungan Meninting harus memberi manfaat bukan hanya untuk irigasi dan air baku, melainkan juga pariwisata dan energi terbarukan.

Pemerintah Kabupaten Lombok Barat dan Kepala BBWS NTB juga menunjukkan komitmen penuh terhadap kelanjutan pemanfaatan bendungan tersebut secara optimal.

For information, the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo has visited the dam site on July 14, 2025.

In his direction, Minister Dody stated, the Meninting Dam must provide benefits not only for irrigation and raw water, but also for tourism and renewable energy.

The West Lombok Regency Government and the Head of BBWS NTB also show a full commitment to the continuation of optimal use of the dam.
