JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) opens up the causes of expensive transportation costs, including in the Jabodetabek area.
One of them is due to the initial and final costs of high transportation.
The Director General of Multimodal Transportation Integration (Intram) of the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal, said that the initial fee or first mile and the final fee or last mile tends to be higher, compared to the public transportation costs themselves.
"The transportation costs of friends around Jakarta are different, Bekasi now can be Rp 1.9 (million) per person. Why? Earlier, maybe our first mile or last mile wasn't good, huh. It means it's still expensive," said Risal at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta, Thursday, July 31.
For example, said Risal, train users, previously departed from home using online motorcycle taxis (ojol), it was necessary to spend Rp. 15,000 to Rp. 25,000 for one road. This fee does not include the KRL tariff to the workplace location or the end point.
Risal said the same goes for users who access public transportation using private vehicles previously, so there is a parking fee that must be spent of Rp. 10,000. This means that there are additionals that contribute to the overall transportation costs.
"That's what we are fixing. How was it, the first mile, last mile, we can reduce it. So, we can reduce the cost of the person for transportation," he said.

Saat ini, sambung Risal, beberapa masyarakat mulai beralih ke transportasi publik yang bisa menjangkau langsung ke titik akhir atau tujuan pemberhentian.
“Pastinya itu (first mile dan last mile jadi permasalahan). Nah, sekarang ini alhamdulillah, tentu Jabotabek ya, Jakarta sudah sampai ke Jabotabek pelayanannya ini,” ujar Risal.

Currently, continued Risal, some people are starting to switch to public transportation which can reach directly to the end or destination of dismissal.
"Certainly it (first mile and last mile are a problem). Well, now thank God, of course Jabotabek, Jakarta has reached Jabotabek, this service," said Risal.
"It's started, the public understands, already knows that there is transportation that can go directly to Jakarta and the costs are affordable," he said.
