PT PLN (Persero) collaborates with PT Mega Energi Biru Indonesia (MEBI) and PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (Alfamart) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the Infrastructure Provision Cooperation of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in various strategic locations throughout Indonesia.
PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, said that the journey to the energy transition is a long process full of challenges. Therefore, cross-stakeholder collaboration is needed to realize a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable future transportation system.
He added that in recent years the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia has increased rapidly along with the growing awareness of the environment, government incentives, and technological advances.
"For PLN, this trend is an opportunity as well as a challenge in providing reliable and equitable charging infrastructure," he said, Thursday, July 24.
By the end of June 2025, PLN and partners have built 4,062 four-wheeled SPKLU units in 2,702 locations spread throughout Indonesia. In the future, the SPKLU network will continue to be expanded to increase user comfort while at the same time encouraging the acceleration of the transition to a more environmentally friendly mode of transportation.
We want to get out of dependence on high-emissioned energy. From pollution to cleaner and more sustainable energy. Electric vehicles are solutions, not only from the environmental side, but also cost efficiency," added Darmawan.
In this collaboration, MEBI will act as a partner provider and SPKLU operator in charge of installation, operation, and maintenance. Meanwhile, Alfamart provides a strategic network of locations as a point of installation of SPKLU, as well as a role in bringing this service closer to retail customers.
MEBI President Commissioner, Rahayu Saraswati Dhirakanya Djojohadikusumo, welcomed this cooperation enthusiastically as a form of active contribution from the private sector in realizing the national electric vehicle ecosystem.
