JAKARTA - PTPN III Plantation Holding (Persero) through PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV PalmCo Subholding is preparing solar panel installation programs in various places of worship in six provinces in Indonesia.
President Director of PTPN IV PalmCo Jatmiko Santosa explained that this program targets mosques and churches that are centers of community social and religious activities, with the target of completing the installation of all points in the third quarter of 2025.
"Overall, this program will cover seven installation points in various regions, ranging from Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, Lampung to West Kalimantan. A small number of locations are still in the survey stage, technical coordination, and licensing processes," said Jatmiko in a written statement, Wednesday, July 23.
Jatmiko explained that this program is a concrete action of the company's commitment to supporting sustainable development that not only touches operational aspects, but also in the spiritual field of society combined with aspects of nature's sustainability.
The house of worship is a community spiritual center. When we can bring solar energy there, we want to prove that sustainability can start anywhere, including community spiritual points," he explained.
Jatmiko mengungkapkan, nilai bantuan dari progres energi bersih di rumah ibadah saat ini telah menentuh lebih dari Rp400 juta dan terus berpotensi meningkat.
"We also deliberately involve local or local vendors in their construction so that more and more parties are involved, so the benefits produced, God willing, will also be wider," he said.
One of the locations for the beneficiaries is the Al Falah Mosque in Asahan Regency, North Sumatra. The mosque is scheduled to be installed with a 4 kW PLTS capacity.
The mosque administrator, Edi Suwegno, said that his party was very enthusiastic. He assessed that this program would be a solution in reducing the mosque's electricity cost burden which is quite high every month.
Edi also hopes that this program will be realized quickly, so that the Al Falah Mosque will support cleaner energy and become the first mosque in Asahan to use solar panels.
"We hope that with the independent energy of the solar panels, activities such as recitation can be carried out more routinely and comfortably," he said.
In addition to the Al Falah Mosque in Asahan Regency, solar panels assistance was also carried out at the Darul Aufa Jambi Mosque, which is part of a boarding school in Batanghari Regency. Then the Nurul Iman Mosque, which is located in Central Lampung Regency, is also included in the list of places of worship that will be assisted.

In addition to mosques, this program also targets a church in West Kalimantan, namely the Stasi Santo Kristophorus Catholic Church in Landak Regency.
According to the church congregation, Sukiman, this news has become a breath of fresh air as well as evidence that the program from PTPN IV does not differentiate the background of the people. He also hopes that the existence of solar panels will encourage more community activities in the church environment.
Sukiman also said that spending on electricity so far is quite a challenge in itself, especially if there are worship and social activities.
If later there is a solar panel, it will certainly help and ease the burden on the church on paying electricity costs. Hopefully this plan will be realized quickly," he said.
