JAKARTA - Oil and gas giants from the United States, Chevron will return and conduct an oil and gas business in Indonesia.

Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Djoko Siswanto said that currently Chevron is still looking at potential oil and gas field data.

"Chevron is looking around, so he sees Chevron, wants to find a big field," Djoko said at a press conference in Jakarta, Monday, July 21.

However, Djoko did not reveal which oil and gas field the US company had already looked at. However, he confirmed that Chevron was interested in the oil and gas field, whose potential was already known.

"If possible, join from the field which has been revealed, which is big," he added.

Currently, he said, several Cooperation Contract Contract Contractors (KKKS) have made requests to open room data for several foreign companies, one of which is Chevron.

"KKKS itu adalah minta buku open room kan ke pemerintah melalui SKK. Dari itu kita lihat, kamu buka data untuk siapa? Salah satunya untuk Chevron," tandas dia.

The news of Chevron's return to the upstream of the Indonesian oil and gas was previously conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung.

"We accelerated the auction process for 30 working areas (WK), so we will immediately conduct an auction. One of the global players is Chevron, maybe they will also come back," said Yuliot when met at the Office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Friday, May 16.

According to Yuliot, Chevron has sufficient experience in the upstream oil and gas sector and previously invested for a long time in Indonesia.

However, Yuliot did not reveal further which working area Chevron was targeting.

"They also have been investing in Indonesia for a long time. And also have sufficient experience in the upstream oil and gas sector," said Yuliot.
