JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia will soon hold a meeting with the Indonesian state-owned oil and gas provider, PT Pertamina (Persero) to discuss regulations on oil and gas imports from the United States worth 15 billion US dollars.

This meeting was held to ensure technical matters related to the import process of three energy commodities to be purchased from the US, namely LPG, fuel and crude oil.

"I have not held a technical meeting with Pertamina. Later, after the technical meeting with Pertamina, we will convey it," said Bahlil, Friday, July 18.

In this meeting, Bahlil also confirmed that he would discuss the economy of fuel and crude if later imports would actually be carried out in order to bring benefits to the US and Indonesia.

"Everything we will calculate according to the same economic price, must be mutually beneficial and you want our country to also get the most efficient price possible," he said.

Previously, separately, VP Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina Fadjar Djoko Santoso said he had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with several US partners to import crude oil.

Despite having carried out the MoU, Pertamina is still waiting for the legal umbrella so that the import process is carried out in accordance with Indonesian regulations.

"To do that (US energy import), we need regulatory support from the government to justify, to procure from there," said Fadjar, Thursday, July 17.
