JAKARTA - The government plans to revise the government's rice food reserve (CBP) policy to 4 million tons a year. Previously, CBP was set at 3 million tons, meaning there was an increase of 1 million.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan revealed that currently, the government's rice reserves in Perum Bulog's warehouse have reached 4.2 million tons.
Furthermore, the man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that because this figure has exceeded the government's policies or targets, the government's provisions need to be revised.
The provisions are contained in Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 6 of 2025 concerning the Procurement and Management of Domestic Rice/Government Rice Reserves (CBP).
"We need to increase the rice supply, which was previously inpres 3 million, to 4 million so that the price does not fall again at the price of unhulled rice," he said after a meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs, Thursday, July 17.
According to Zulhas, this absorption of rice reserves was carried out because rice production had increased. He said usually if production increases sharply, then the price of unhulled rice has the potential to fall sharply.
"Bulog needs more, because this is the road season, this season is good, it supports all year long, there is no el nino, it continues to rain. Therefore, we need to increase the rice reserves that were previously Presidential Instruction 3 million," he explained.

Amran admitted that he had submitted the proposal to the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs. This is because it is due to changing the target from the previous 3 million tons to 4.5 million tons, only changing the Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 6 of 2025.
