Inpex Affirms Commitment To Develop Masela's Eternal Gas Field Project

JAKARTA - Inpex Corporation through its subsidiary Inpex Masela, LTD. as the operator of the Eternal Masela LNG Project emphasized its commitment to developing Masela Field.

Executive Project Director of Inpex masela Ltd, Jarrad Blinko conveyed about the development of the LNG Abadi Project. According to him, the Eternal Project is a very important strategic project, both for Inpex and Indonesia. Located in Tanimbar Islands Regency, Maluku Province, an area located far from the center of main activity, this project requires precise logistics and technical planning.

"One of them is a technical challenge where the pipe must cross the Tanimbar Trench with a depth of more than 1,500 meters," said Jarrad, Tuesday, July 8.

In addition, he continued, the Floating Production and Offloading (FPSO) Facility, which will also be built is one of the largest in Indonesia.

"We will use the largest Christmas Tree system ever produced in Indonesia, and make this project the first to implement subsea technology Christmas Tree CCS through underwater wells. This reflects the extraordinary scale and complexity of the project," he continued.

Jarrad admitted that he was confident that this project would be one of the main contributors in strengthening national energy security by collaborating with partners and strong support from the Government through SKK Migas.

"We are determined to realize this project so that it can immediately enter the production stage. Currently, we are completing the final stages of the tender process and will soon begin the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase, which is an important milestone in the journey of this project," concluded Jarrad Blinko.

This project is also designed to be the first LNG project in Indonesia to implement Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology from the start of its development. This approach will play an important role in supporting Indonesia's national decarbonization target.

As one of the National Strategic Projects in the energy sector, the Abadi Gas Project plays an important role in realizing clean energy-based national energy security. The LNG Abadi project includes the construction of two LNG liquefaction trains on land with a total production capacity of 9.5 million metric tons per year (MTPA), pipeline gas distribution of 150 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) for domestic needs, and condensate production of around 35,000 barrel per day (BCPD).

INPEX manages the Abadi Gas Field with 65 percent participation, with Pertamina Hulu Energi Masela partners at 20 percent and Petronas Masela Sdn. Bhd at 15 percent.
