JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza is optimistic that the deregulation of import policies can increase the textile and textile product (TPT) industry and domestic finished clothing.
In the preparation of the import policy deregulation package, said Faisol, the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) was actively involved and considered input from various industrial associations, including TPT.

Faisol said the TPT sector and finished clothing have been the most affected industries from the entry of imported goods.
The new policy regarding the two commodities is expected to open up greater opportunities for domestic production.
"Wearing finished (import) which is widely in the market, of course, it is hoped that the deregulation of trade policies will decrease, so that business actors will get more opportunities to be able to utilize the domestic market, and domestic production can be absorbed by the market," he said.

"Because raw materials are also facilitated, of course, there will be developments that we hope for in IKI (Industrial Trust Index), specifically for the textile sector, it can also be even higher, so I think the industry will be quite protected," added Faisol.
The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso said there were new regulations related to imports in the textile industry sector, namely for finished clothes and finished clothing accessories.
Budi explained that in the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 8 of 2024 it was stated that the finished clothes and finished clothing accessories required import plans, recommendations from the Surveyor Institute (LS) to obtain import approval (PI), as well as the Regulation of the Director General of Foreign Trade (Perdirjen Daglu) Number 7 of 2024.
