JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo targets the construction of the first phase of the People's School to be completed on July 8, 2025.

As of June 22, 2025, the national progress of the project construction has reached 61.78 percent.

Dody said the use of the digital service information system was an important breakthrough to closely monitor the development of projects in 63 real-time locations throughout Indonesia.

The technology includes Continuous Auditing Continuous Monitoring (CACM), the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM), drones and CCTV connected online.

"We are utilizing digital technology to increase transparency and efficiency in the management of educational infrastructure projects," said Dody as quoted from his official statement, Monday, June 23.

Basic infrastructure such as school buildings, dormitories, sanitation facilities and various other learning support facilities must be properly available.

"This is very important so that children, especially from extreme poor families, have access to quality education," he said.

According to Dody, the People's School project is important as a real effort to support equitable education in Indonesia. "Good infrastructure is the key to supporting an effective and quality teaching and learning process," he said

Furthermore, Dody conveyed the development of projects in several main locations in Jakarta. As of June 22, 2025, development progress at the Handayani Center has reached 72 percent, the Mulya Jaya Center for 81 percent and the Margaguna Education and Training Center (Pusdiklat) reached 78 percent.

"The renovation work includes repairing male and female dormitories, school buildings, teacher offices, dining rooms, teachers' official houses, toilets and sports facilities, including providing furniture," he said.

He assessed that the development of People's Schools is an important part in alleviating poverty through inclusive and quality education.

"Through the construction of the People's School, we are trying to provide free and quality educational facilities for children from extreme poor families," concluded Dody.
