JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI continues to strengthen its commitment to implementing Asta Cita through the distribution of People's Business Credit (KUR) to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) entrepreneurs throughout Indonesia. This step is part of BRI's strategy to expand access to productive financing and strengthen the role of MSMEs in encouraging national economic growth.

Throughout January to May 2025, BRI has distributed KUR worth IDR 69.8 trillion, or equivalent to 39.89% of the total annual allocation of IDR 175 trillion set by the Government. During this period, BRI KUR distribution has reached around 8.29 million MSME debtors. In terms of distribution distribution, the majority of KUR distributed by BRI or around 63.31% are allocated to the production sector, which includes agriculture, fisheries, processing industry, and others. Among these sectors, agriculture recorded the largest distribution value, reaching IDR 30.63 trillion or around 43.88% of the total KUR.

The amount of distribution is in line with the Government's efforts to strengthen strategic sectors that encourage national economic growth, especially sectors that play a role in supporting food security and the development of the real sector which has a direct impact on the community.

This year's performance also strengthens BRI's track record as the largest KUR channeling bank in Indonesia. Historically, if accumulated from 2015 to May 2025, BRI's total KUR distribution has reached Rp1,327 trillion, with the number of recipients reaching 44.26 million debtors. This further confirms BRI's consistency and real contribution in encouraging MSME growth as the main pillar of the national economy.

BRI Corporate Secretary Agustya Hendy Bernadi said that the distribution of KUR does not only aim to expand access to inclusive financing, but is also expected to have a multiplier effect on the community.

The distribution of KUR is part of the Company's efforts to expand access to financing that is inclusive and encourages national economic growth. The KUR program is a driving force that is able to strengthen business independence, create jobs, and ultimately improve people's welfare," said Hendy. This further confirms BRI's role in strengthening the MSME sector and the people's economy.

Citing the publication of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in November 2024, the presence of KUR as a low-interest credit program has also proven to have succeeded in providing a multiplier effect on macroeconomic growth.

In addition, KUR also contributes to the absorption of new workers. This is in line with the results of BRIN's research in 2023 that every 1 KUR debtor can absorb 3 new workers. (ADV)
