Energy Self-Sufficiency Is The Awakening Of The Republic Of Indonesia Apart From Dependence On Imports

Member of Commission XII DPR RI Dewi Yustisiana emphasized that self-sufficiency in energy must be the main mission in every national energy policy because it is a strategic bridge towards the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045.

"If we want to become a developed country in 2045, then we must stand on an energy foundation that is independent, fair, and sovereign," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 30.

Furthermore, he stressed, Indonesia cannot continue to depend on imports. Therefore, self-sufficiency in energy is the way of Indonesia's revival.

He appreciated the ideological approach promoted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in viewing the energy sector. He said that the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia was not trapped in the technical aspect alone, but dared to place energy in a more fundamental framework, namely as part of the ideals of the state.

"The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources brings a deeper, more ideological, perspective in formulating energy policies. He often emphasizes the importance of constitutional perspective and justice in analyzing and deciding the direction of national energy policy," said Dewi.

This approach is considered in line with President Prabowo Subianto's vision which also prioritizes an ideological perspective in national development. Energy, he said, is not only a matter of supply or price, but about sovereignty, sustainability, and equity.

With an approach like this, the targets of the energy sector that are planned in the future are not only technocratic. He touched on the root of why this country was founded, which is to bring justice and prosperity to all people," he said.

He emphasized the importance of a constitutional approach in national energy policy to ensure social justice and state sovereignty.

The principle of national energy management, he said, needs to be put back on the constitutional foundation as stated in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

The concept of 'constitutional energy' confirms that energy is not just an economic commodity, but the rights of the people and the instruments of social justice that must be guaranteed by the state.

"By placing energy within the framework of the constitution, Indonesia not only strengthens energy sovereignty, but also ensures that energy becomes a strategic force to realize the ideals of independence and social justice for all Indonesian people," said the legislator for the South Sumatra II electoral district.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said that the realization of oil lifting in the first quarter of 2025 reached 580,000 barrels per day (BPH), or 96 percent of the APBN target of 605,000 BPH.

Meanwhile, gas lifting, said Bahlil, has reached 120 percent of the target set in the state budget. In the state budget, the natural gas lifting target is 1.005 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.
