Sido Muncul Wins Award From Central Java's ESDM Service

JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk managed to become the number one best company in saving energy and water (HEA) for the industrial category.

The award was handed over by the Assistant for Economic Development of the Central Java Regional Secretary Sudjarwanto to PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk represented by Yulius Ajie and Iwan Setyo Wibowo at the Cental Java Youth Sustainability Forum 2025 at the Semarang Legacy Hall, on Saturday, May 3.

The issuer with the stock code SIDO won an award held by the Central Java Province Energy and Mineral Resources Office (ESDM). Representative of PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk, Yulius Ajie accompanied by Iwan Setyo Wibowo revealed, Sido Muncul has long prioritized sustainability and efficiency in its operations.

"The company has implemented various programs to reduce energy and water consumption, as well as increase efficiency in the use of natural resources," he said.

As a company that needs Natural Resources as the main raw material, his party is well aware that natural damage will have a negative impact on the company's running.

"So that PT Sido Muncul is very trying to carry out a sustainable industrial process and does not harm the environment," he said.

Yulius Ajie added that the current focus of management is on utilizing new and renewable energy (EBT) in order to maintain natural balance and ensure the sustainability of raw materials.

"If we destroy nature, in the end we ourselves are short of resources. Therefore, we are fully committed to the use of renewable energy. Currently, 100% of our energy sources come from renewable energy, 91 percent of which are from PLN through the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) scheme," he explained.

Sido Muncul recorded a 91 percent reduction in carbon emissions in 2024 compared to the level in 2021, far exceeding the company's initial target of only 14 percent. Of this achievement, 61 percent of the contribution came from the use of biomass as an energy source.

The use of REC from PLN is said to have contributed significantly in suppressing coverage 2 emissions, namely indirect emissions from energy plants purchased by the company. Although it requires higher costs, this step is considered commensurate with the positive impacts generated on the environment.

This year, Sido Muncul is targeting an additional 5 percent reduction in carbon emissions compared to the previous year through a comprehensive increase in energy efficiency.

This award from Central Java's ESDM is proof that environmental conservation can go hand in hand with industrial growth, as long as there is commitment, innovation, and participation of all parties in the company.
