The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) is speeding up the establishment of the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes) with a national target of 80,000 units being confirmed on July 12, 2025, which coincides with the Commemoration of Cooperative Day.
Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperatives (Seskemenkop) Ahmad Zabadi explained that one of the provinces that has the potential to give birth to many Red and White Kopdes is East Java, precisely in Malang Regency/City.
According to him, in Malang Regency or City, it is estimated that 390 units of the Red and White Kopdes will be born which are ready to be legalized as cooperative business legal entities.
"I think Malang Regency has targeted before June 30, 2025, the Red and White Village Cooperative has been formed in 390 villages. As of today (Saturday, April 19) as many as 60 Red and White Village Cooperatives are ready to be established," he said in his statement, Saturday, April 19.
Ahmad is optimistic that the program to form the Red and White Kopdes will be achieved according to the target if each Regency makes various breakthroughs to accelerate.
In addition, he conveyed that by optimizing the potential and resources owned in each region, the existence of the Red and White Kopdes will have a positive impact on the regional economy, especially the village.
"The establishment of the Red and White Village Cooperative can provide more productive business activities, so that villages do not become a source of poverty in Indonesia, even extreme poverty," he said.
On the other hand, Ahmad appreciated the implementation of the Musdes carried out by several villages in Malang Regency because it was part of the main mechanism in the formation of the Red and White Kopdes.
