JAKARTA - BUMN Holding Indonesia Mining Industry MIND ID consisting of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum, PT Timah Tbk, and PT Vale Indonesia Tbk reported that they had planted 126,000 mangrove tree seedlings throughout 2024.

MIND ID Corporate Secretary Heri Yusuf conveyed that MIND ID together with all Group Members collaborated with the community and youth groups in this program. According to Heri, the average total carbon deposit in the mangrove ecosystem is estimated to reach 4411085 MgC/ha, and is able to support the achievement of the government's NZE target.

"The MIND ID Group mangrove planting program is not just a tree to protect the coast, but hope for Indonesia's more sustainable future," he said, Tuesday, April 8.

Meanwhile, Heri explained that in Southeast Sulawesi, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam), the Kolaka Nickel Business Unit planted 60,000 mangrove seeds throughout 2024 in Pomalaa District.

This figure is an addition to the mangroves planted by Antam during 2023 as many as 90,000 seeds in the same location with a total area of 55 hectares.

In Lampung, Bukit Asam Tarahan Port Unit consistently planted mangroves with the Bina Jaya Lestari Forest Farmers Group.

Around 30,000 seeds have been planted in the Cuku Nyi Nyi Ecotourism Area, which is now developing into a nursery center and micro-enterprises.

On the History Beach, Coal, North Sumatra, INALUM has planted more than 51,000 seeds, and keeps about 20 ha of mangrove areas.

In Gresik, Freeport Indonesia has also planted 50 thousand mangrove seeds since September 2024, and is working with the environmental and community education offices.

In the Riau Islands and Bangka Belitung PT Timah completed planting as many as 15,500 mangrove trees in July 2024.

Meanwhile, the Morowali Vale Indonesia area has also consistently planted thousands of mangrove seeds and collaborated with students and fishing groups to maintain the sustainability of coastal areas.

Heri added that the positive impact of mangrove planting is not only absorbing carbon to support NZE, but also making coastal ecosystems more stable, avoiding abrasion, erosion, and soil irradiation, and protecting beaches from the impact of storms.

According to him, this more conducive condition has been able to provide opportunities for the community to bring in tourists and open businesses.

"Of course this is also a benefit that the MIND ID Group wants to present. We hope that the presence of mangroves can be beneficial to the environment as well as for the community's economy," said Heri.
