JAKARTA The Probolinggo-Banyuwangi (Probowangi) Toll Road for the Kraksaan-Paiton section will be functionalized during the Lebaran 2025 homecoming period. The Minister of Public Works (PU), Dody Hanggodo, said the road can be used without being charged a toll tariff.

"The existence of this functional toll road is very important to support the smooth flow of homecoming and backflow, especially in areas that often experience congestion."

"With this toll road, it is hoped that the distribution of vehicles can be more even, reduce congestion on the main route, and provide a more comfortable homecoming experience for the community," he said as quoted in a written statement, Saturday, March 15, 2025.

To reduce density on national roads, this functional toll road will be applied in one direction with a wider scope.

"To reduce national road density, we will function the toll road only in one direction, namely from Gending to Paiton about 23 km."

"Because this is still functional, its operations are only during the day, possibly until 16.00 or a maximum of 17.00. It will also continue to be coordinated with Korlantas," said Dody.

Dody again explained that when the flow of homecoming, the toll road will operate in one direction on Line A, accommodating travelers from Surabaya to Banyuwangi with exit access at the Paiton Toll Gate.

Meanwhile, reverse flow applies a one-way system on Line B, which is intended for vehicles from the direction of Situbondo or Banyuwangi to Surabaya.

As of March 9, 2025, the progress of the toll road construction has reached 80.3 percent. The Probowangi Toll Road with a total length of 175.40 kilometers (km) is the last segment that will perfect the Trans Java Toll Road network, connecting the west to east of Java Island.

Previously, the Trans Java toll road network had been connected from Banten, West Java, to East Probolinggo, East Java.

"With the completion of the Kraksaan-Paiton section, we hope that connectivity between regions will improve, facilitate the distribution of people, goods, and services, and have a positive impact on economic growth, especially in the eastern region of Java Island," he said.

In addition to preparing functional toll roads, the Ministry of Public Works also continues to coordinate with related parties to ensure the readiness of supporting facilities and infrastructure, such as traffic signs, street lighting, and other facilities.

These facilities and infrastructure will be ensured in optimal conditions so that travelers can travel safely.
