JAKARTA - The Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) and the Indonesian Shopping Center Tenants Association (Hippindo) officially opened the Discount BINA: Lebaran 2025 today.
The event, which was held in order to support the national campaign Shopping in Indonesia Aja, presented retail discounts which began on March 14-30, 2025 at more than 400 shopping centers throughout Indonesia, including outlets at stations and airports.
APPBI General Chair Alphonzus Widjaja said the BINA Discount was held to support the recovery of purchasing power, especially among the middle class who began to weaken.
He also anticipates a shift in people's choices in taking expenses to shop at retail, one of which is for goods at affordable prices.
"Of course, because the purchasing power of the lower middle class is still not recovering. Now we are trying to push it again, don't let it go down again," he said in his remarks at the 2025 Eid Discount BINA Opening Ceremony event in Jakarta, Friday, March 14.
Alphonzus estimates that the peak retail sales will occur this week. Given, the THR will start disbursing in the near future.

"That's why (BINA Discount) will be held on March 14 (March), because several companies have also disbursed their THR. So, it is hoped that starting tomorrow there will be a peak sales until next week, because after that people will start busy with going home," he said.
"I think this is a moment that we hope can be used as much as possible for people to be able to shop," he continued.
On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the amount of discount offered at BINA Discount reached 70 percent. He is optimistic that the presence of this discount can boost public interest in spending.
"Earlier, the discount was delivered up to 70 percent. This is what is expected to encourage people to continue shopping. I also hope that Indonesia has resilience and endurance because we have domestic capabilities," said Airlangga.
"Also domestic shopping events if possible become the destination of international tourers at least at the ASEAN level," he continued.
To note, BINA Discount: Lebaran 2025 is part of the Expenditure Program in Indonesia Aja organized by Hippindo and APPBI in collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and various other stakeholders.
