JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has frozen 10 fishing vessels and one fishing vessel. This is because all ships are suspected of having violated the transfer of load or transhipment in Arafura waters.
Director General of Capture Fisheries (DJPT) KKP Lotharia Latif said the 10 ships were now secured at the Nusantara Fisheries Port (PPN) Tual, Friday, February 28. Meanwhile, one ship is still under the supervision of the Directorate General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP.
"These 10 fishing vessels do not have a partnership document with the carrier with the initials KM. MS 7A. When the inspection was carried out, there were no fish on these 10 ships and it was suspected that all of them had been moved," Latif said as quoted from the KKP official website, Wednesday, March 5.
Latif assessed that transipulation was a serious violation, so the ship's suspension of permits was carried out as an initial sanction in the form of administrative action against fishing vessels that violated the provisions on the recommendations of the Directorate General of PSDKP.
