There Are 28 Infrastructure Projects That Have Implemented Technology-Based Sustainable Development

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is committed to continuing to support the development of the technology-based Indonesia construction industry, especially through the implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM).

This is to realize the implementation of sustainable construction in accordance with the mandate of the Minister of PUPR Regulation (PermenPUPR) Number 9 of 2021.

As for 2024, the Ministry of Public Works has implemented BIM on more than 28 projects, including 14 markets spread across West Sumatra, West Nusa Tenggara, Central Java, Bali, Ambon, Manokwari and Padang. Then in five sports facilities such as the Aquatic Arena in Papua, Istora Papua Bangkit, Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) Jakarta, the National Sports Training Center for Pangalengan and the Main Stadium of North Sumatra.

There are also eight educational facilities in the form of campuses, school and madrasas prototypes and PU Pusbangkom. In addition, the Ministry of Public Works also requires the use of BIM in projects in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti said the implementation of BIM has many benefits. Among other things, increasing efficiency and accuracy, detecting mitigation or reducing risks and simplifying the monitoring and evaluation process at each development stage.

Then, make the design and construction process leaner and transparent, avoid errors ranging from planning to implementation and speed up development implementation times.

"The sustainability of BIM in the operational stage of infrastructure plays an important role in ensuring that the building management system runs optimally, such as Building Management System (BMS) and Building Energy Management System (BEMS). In addition, BIM also supports the development of Smart Building Buildings (BGC) in the infrastructure utilization stage," Diana said as quoted from her written statement, Thursday, February 20.

To support the implementation of BIM, Diana said, her party had made various efforts, such as including the requirements of BIM personnel in tender documents and implementing e-catalog to optimize the quality, cost and timing of the project.

"Not only that, we also periodically strengthen human resources and develop BIM facilities through training related to software and hardware for BIM teams in work units, develop BIM studios and organize BIM week activities to increase awareness and accelerate BIM implementation," he said.

According to him, the government plays a role in monitoring, inspection and coaching through policies, strengthening human resources and developing facilities to encourage technological transformation in the construction sector.

However, Diana said, collaboration between government, academics and industry is still needed so that the implementation of BIM can improve construction standards and public safety.

"We are committed to continuing to support digital transformation in the field of construction by ensuring the implementation of BIM consistently throughout Indonesia," he concluded.
