JAKARTA - BUMN Mining Industry Holding Indonesia MIND ID recorded a new history in the national mining industry by realizing the first shipment of gold from PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) to PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam).
This inaugural gold delivery is a follow-up to the gold synergy commitment between members of the MIND ID Group, namely Antam and Freeport Indonesia in November 2024.
Through this synergy, the processing of anode mud from copper processing can be further processed domestically into pure gold and then become the final product to meet the investment needs of the Indonesian people.
In this inaugural shipment, 125 kilograms of gold bullion with a purity level of 99.99 percent were sent to Antam on Wednesday, February 13.
President Director of MIND ID Hendi Prio Santoso emphasized that the realization of this shipment was a follow-up to the gold purchase business agreement between Antam and Freeport Indonesia.
Hendi also emphasized that this synergy is not only a business achievement, but also an economic sovereignty strategy to reduce dependence on imports of raw materials that are in line with our efforts to support Indonesia's mineral sovereignty.
"Of course, we will continue to encourage this synergy and hopefully we will improve it again, so that the supply chain of the gold industry can really have a real impact as well as sovereignty for the Indonesian economy," he said, Friday, February 14.
President Director of Antam Nico Kanter said that with the realization of this initial gold shipment, Antam would consistently reduce imports of raw materials.
"This is a good start to long-term cooperation. This achievement is the result of a solid business strategy, optimizing production, and increasing market demand. We will continue to strengthen Antam's position as the leader of the precious metal industry in Indonesia," he said.
Nico continued that the delivery of the first gold will also have a positive impact on the company's performance, because the momentum of world gold prices is at a record high or all-time high.
"The first shipment from Freeport strengthened Antam's gold supply and increased efficiency, and our record sales showed high market confidence. The bullish price of gold also boosted this performance," he said.
Meanwhile, Freeport Indonesia President Director Tony Wenas said the company is trying to consistently support the government's vision to maximize the added value of natural resources and realize Indonesia Gold 2045.

Tony ensured that the incident that occurred at one of the PTFI smelter complex facilities did not stop the company from carrying out the company's commitment to downstream mining.
The construction of Precious Metal Refinery (PMR) has been completed and Freeport Indonesia can still produce pure gold is proof of PTFI's seriousness in carrying out downstreaming.
"As a company that has domestic integrated processing and purification from upstream to downstream, PTFI has realized copper downstream and is currently downstreaming of gold. In the near future it will follow downstream silver," Tony said.
Meanwhile, Freeport Indonesia managed to process around 12.56 tons of anode mud from PT Smelting. From this process, 189 kg gold bullion was produced, of which 125 kg of fine gold purity was 99.99 percent, while 64 kilograms would still be recasted to meet the fine gold purity standards.
PMR Freeport Indonesia is also one of the producers of pure bullion gold in Indonesia with a purification capacity of around 50 tons of gold and 200 tons of silver per year and Platinum Group metals, namely 30 kg platinum, 375 kg of Palladium.
