Danantara Officially Established, Erick Thohir Conveys Prabowo's Directions On SOEs

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir conveyed the direction and policies of President Prabowo Subianto regarding BUMN in the future as well as the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Dantara).

As is known, the bill on the third amendment to Law number 19 of 2003 concerning State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has been passed into law through a plenary meeting of the DPR RI today. With the ratification of the bill, Danantara automatically also officially established it.

Erick explained that the Danantara was designed to optimize state revenues, in order to boost Indonesia's economic growth. Considering that President Prabowo is targeting economic growth to reach 8 percent.

"BPI Danantara will carry out SOE management both operationally and in optimizing dividend management in order to assist the government in realizing the 8 percent economic growth target," said Erick at the DPR RI building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 4.

Furthermore, Erick also said that the formation of BPI Danantara was included in efforts to transform SOEs.

"The transformation of SOEs through the establishment of BPI Danantara is a strategic step in realizing the Joint vision of Advanced Indonesia Towards Golden Indonesia 2045," said Erick.

Erick said that SOEs will continue to be transformed into professional, efficient, and global competitive business entities. This is because the government sees SOEs as strategic assets that the state has a vital role in national economic development.

Therefore, continued Erick, the government is restructuring, reorganizing, consolidating and other steps.

"Untuk kemudian dapat menciptakan entitas yang lebih sleek, fokus, dan memberikan nilai tambah," ujar Erick.

In addition, said Erick, SOEs must also accelerate innovation and mastery of technology to increase company productivity.

"BUMN also needs to continue to implement good corporate governance (Good Corporate Governance), development of superior human resources with integrity and global insight," he explained.
