JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) said that people can exchange money directly or go show without making orders at the Smart BI service.

Head of the BI Money Management Department, Marlison Hakim, said that the direct money exchange service would only be opened after BI completed the exchange of money made through the Smart application order.

However, Marlison has not been able to confirm how much quota or amount of money can be exchanged through the go show service. The reason is, the new go show exchange quota can be determined after the exchange made through the Smart application is complete.

"We can't mention the go show quota yet, because the availability of money will be exchanged later. For example, we are ready for a package of Rp. 4 million per person, right? There are only Rp. 2 million, Rp. 1 million, like that, the rest that we use for going show," he said at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, March 28, 2024.

According to Marlison, based on previous experience, the go show exchange quota can be served is around 40 percent to 50 percent.

In addition, Marlison explained that to use the go show service, the public only needs to bring an identity in the form of an Identity Card or ID card.

However, Marlison said that people who come directly will still be directed to fill in the exchange data through the Smart application. This is done to ensure the availability of money to be exchanged.

"When they go to the show, we direct them to continue to fill out the apps on the spot so that the number of people is found out. If we let it go, later it can happen between money and insufficient people," he explained.

Marlison conveyed that the order quota for BI currency exchange services through the Smart application had expired until March 31. However, BI strives to serve the needs of people's money exchange, so that a go show service is provided.

Therefore, Marlison said that BI provides exchange quotas for each individual, which is IDR 4 million with a maximum exchange of one time.

"We are more about the aspect of equitable distribution so that most people can meet their money needs earlier," said Marlison.

For information, BI has prepared distribution-worthy money (ULE) worth IDR 196.7 trillion to meet the needs of exchanging rupiah currency at the moment of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in 2024.

In addition, BI set the amount of Rupiah currency exchange for Eid 2024 to a maximum of Rp. 4 million compared to the previous year of only Rp. 3.8 million.

As for the period from March 15 to April 7, 2024, the public can exchange rupiah currency at 4,264 public bank office service points spread throughout Indonesia.

Meanwhile, integrated exchange services for BI and banking cooperation will start from March 28 to March 31, 2024 at Istora Senayan, DKI Jakarta. In the regions, it will also be held in stadiums and city squares.

Furthermore, from April 2 to April 5, 2024, Bank Indonesia will add locations for exchange services on the homecoming route such as toll road rest areas, ports and train stations.

In addition, there is also mobile cash services in strategic locations and cash around the river to serve rupiah exchange.
