JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) ensures that electricity supply in Indonesia is safe. The government also ensures that there will be no increase in electricity rates, even though the world is currently experiencing an energy crisis.

The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rida Mulyana, said that the energy crisis in several countries was due to a lack of raw material supply to power plants and soaring commodity prices.

"Alhamdulillah, we should be grateful that we have coal, gas, and more than that compared to other countries we have arranged and guaranteed. For example, there is a DMO for coal, not all of it is exported. There is an obligation to meet domestic needs," he said at the conference. press virtually, Thursday, October 21.

According to Rida, by the end of the year in terms of electricity supply and readiness of electricity capacity, more than enough has been installed. He also stressed that there would be no increase in electricity rates.

"Electricity conditions are more than adequate, it was decided that until the end of the year there would be no increase in electricity rates or changes in electricity rates," he said.

Even though the domestic electricity supply is safe, Rida ensured that the government will continue to monitor the dynamics of the energy crisis in a number of countries. As experienced by Britain, China, India, Singapore, and even the United States (US).

"Now what we are looking at from day to day is the guarantee of the supply chain, especially coal. Because now coal and LNG (liquefied natural gas) commodities are increasing. Several countries have experienced an energy crisis, an electricity crisis," he said.

Rida explained that now many countries are starting to increase the use of coal to maintain their energy security, including the US. Therefore, global demand for coal is soaring.

"Now coal is above 200 US dollars. Now, PLN can buy it at 70 (US dollars), the state is here to guarantee this electricity will still exist," he said.
